The Spannorthütte SAC is a compact high-alpine hut located high above the Engelberg valley, beneath the striking peaks of the Gross Spannort and Chli Spannort. Set in a rugged, glaciated environment, it functions primarily as a base for glacier ascents, alpine climbing, and ski mountaineering, rather than classic hiking.

The Rugghubelhütte SAC is a well-positioned alpine hut above the Engelberg valley, on the border between Obwalden and Nidwalden. Known for its wide panoramas and relatively accessible approach, it functions primarily as a high-alpine hiking and stage hut, while also serving as a base for scrambles and more demanding routes in the Engelberg Alps.
