Spannorthütte SAC – High-Alpine Hut & Spannort Glacier Base

Website
Reservation

The Spannorthütte SAC is a compact high-alpine hut located high above the Engelberg valley, beneath the striking peaks of the Gross Spannort and Chli Spannort. Set in a rugged, glaciated environment, it functions primarily as a base for glacier ascents, alpine climbing, and ski mountaineering, rather than classic hiking. The hut is quiet, exposed, and distinctly technical in character.

Why This Hut Is Worth Visiting

At 1,956 m, the Spannorthütte SAC sits lower than many glacier huts, yet its surroundings are fully high-alpine. Its value lies in position rather than altitude, offering direct access to serious terrain in a quiet corner of the Engelberg Alps. For mountaineers seeking commitment without crowds, it is a highly rewarding base.
