Rottalhütte SAC – High-Alpine Hut & Jungfrau Summit Base
The Rottalhütte SAC is a small, demanding high-alpine hut located high above the Rottal Valley, on the southern flank of the Jungfrau massif. It is best known as the classic Swiss base for the ascent of the Jungfrau (4,158 m) via the Rottalsattel route. Remote, exposed, and uncompromising, this hut is reserved for experienced alpinists only.

Why This Hut Is Worth Visiting
At 2,755 m, the Rottalhütte SAC represents one of the most demanding “normal-route” bases in the Alps. Its position below the Jungfrau’s steep southern face makes it a place of commitment and consequence—rewarding only those with the skill, fitness, and judgment to use it properly. Few huts feel as purposeful, or as intense, as this one.
