The Glattalphütte SAC is a distinctive alpine hut located on the vast Glattalp karst plateau, above the Muotathal in the Canton of Schwyz. Known for its wild limestone landscape, sinkholes, and remote atmosphere, the hut serves as a base for alpine hiking, karst exploration, and demanding non-glaciated routes. It is a place where geology and alpinism intersect, offering a very different alpine experience from glaciated high-mountain regions.

Why This Hut Is Worth Visiting

At 1,896 m, the Glattalphütte SAC offers one of Switzerland’s most unusual alpine settings. The stark karst landscape of the Glattalp, combined with the hut’s isolation and demanding approaches, creates an experience defined by raw terrain, silence, and geological drama—ideal for hikers who want something beyond classic postcard Alps.
