The Domhütte SAC is one of the most important high-alpine huts in Switzerland, spectacularly located above the Mattertal, at the foot of the Mischabel Group. It is the classic and almost exclusive base for ascents of the Dom (4,545 m)—the highest mountain entirely on Swiss territory—as well as several other major 4,000-metre peaks. This hut is a cornerstone of serious alpine mountaineering in the Valais.

Why This Hut Is Worth Visiting

At 2,940 m, the Domhütte SAC is one of the most consequential huts in the Alps. Its direct access to the Dom and the heart of the Mischabel Group places it at the centre of Swiss high-altitude alpinism. Demanding, remote, and deeply alpine, it represents commitment, preparation, and the highest ambitions of mountaineering in Switzerland.
